Anthony Vincent Caltagirone

Anthony Vincent Caltagirone, 83, of Dupont passed into eternal rest on January 14, 2023, at home surround by his family.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont and the Holy Name Society.


Born in West Wyoming, he was the son of the late Vincent and Elena Caltagirone.


Anthony served in the United States Army. He was employed as a Boilermaker for many years. He also worked as a security guard for US Security Company.


He enjoyed spending time building and flying radio control airplanes and was a member of the Wyoming Valley R/C Flying Club.


Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Elena Caltagirone, sister Carmella Dessoye, his brother-in-law Thomas Dessoye, and his mother-in-law Margaret (Ziobro) Milewski.


He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores (Milewski) Caltagirone; his son Mark Anthony Caltagirone and wife Debbie of Yulee, Florida; daughter Lisa M. (Caltagirone) Petch and her husband Edward T. Petch of Drums, PA; grandchildren Courtney, Jordan and Hannah; great grandchildren Evin, Atlas, Serenity and Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Moran, Dr. Michael Campenni, Charlie and all the staff at Hematology and Oncology Associates of NEPA, PC and the staff of Allied Hospice for their excellent care and support. A special thank you to all the family members who helped with his care, especially Frank and Diane Skrzysowski.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 10:30am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 217 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Father Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Friday morning, January 20th from 9am until 10am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont. AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
