Catherine (Katie) Marie Clifford

Catherine (Katie) Marie Clifford, 67, of Avoca, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born in Avoca on November 25, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Cannon) Clifford.


Katie was a proud graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1976. She honorably served in the United States Air Force for four years stateside. Following her military service, she pursued a career in healthcare, attending school in Santa Barbara, California, where she specialized in ultrasound and vascular technology, and later continuing her vascular studies in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.


She began her career in the Radiology Department at Mercy Hospital in Scranton before working as a traveling Ultrasound Vascular Technologist, providing care across the Midwest and East Coast. Katie later retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital Medical Center in Towson, Maryland, after years of dedicated service.


Katie was a member of the West Side Social Club in Avoca. She had a deep love for animals and treasured the time she spent with her family and close friends. Her kindness, warmth, and friendship will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Clifford Pascavage; her sister‑in‑law, Joanne Clifford; and her nephews, Ryan Widdick and Mikey Clifford.


She is survived by her loving sisters, Rosemary Beach and her husband Gary of Edgewater, Maryland, and Patrice McGlynn of Avoca; her brothers, Patrick Clifford of Duryea, Francis Clifford of Duryea, and Michael Clifford of Avoca, brother-in-law Bob Pascavage of Shavertown; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at a later date.Arrangements are entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine Street, Duryea.
