Christina Nossavage, 71, of Avoca, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. She was born in Newark, NJ on April 25, 1949 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanch Novak Andruzis.
Christina was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Bloomfield, NJ. She then attended St. Vincent School of Practical Nursing in New Jersey and graduated from Felician University School of Nursing, Rutherford, NJ as a registered nurse. Christina retired from the American Red Cross after many years of employment. She was a very active member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church where she volunteered as a CCD Teacher, and was a Eucharist Minister and was involved with the parish RCIA program.
Christina was also a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent program and volunteered for many years at the West Pittston Day Care Center. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Nossavage and her daughter, Sharon Christina Nossavage, who died July 13, 2017.
Christina is survived by her sister Charlene Andruzis, of Avoca, her aunt Helen Piechota, her uncle Hank Novak, and several cousins.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for a walk thru visitation on Friday morning from 9:30am until time of mass. If attending the visitation or mass please be mindful that facial masks and safe social distancing are mandatory at all times per CDC regulations. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
