Clare Altieri

Clare Altieri, 81, of Hughestown passed peacefully at her home on Monday, February 1st, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Taylor on January 13, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Wendell and Clara (Evans) Davis.

Clare’s life revolved around family, nature, and nurturing. Being a wife, mother and a businesswoman, Clare gave to all with her kind and generous nature. She enjoyed crafting, painting, and especially spending days in her beautiful yard of which she was very proud.


Clare was the wife of the late Vincent James Altieri, Sr. Together they founded the original Vince’s Pizza in Avoca, where they worked together until Vince’s passing in 2003, and she continued until its closing in 2007.


For over 50 years, any child entering either Vince’s Pizza or My Sisters Kitchen was met with a crayon, a coloring sheet, and a lesson in “B” for Bunny. She was loved by all.


In addition to her parents and her husband Vincent, Clare was preceded in death by her brother Al Davis and her sister Joan Fahey.


She is survived by her children Janet Russo (Brian), Avoca, Gina Lavelle (James), Avoca, Vincent James, Jr. at home; grandsons Bryan Russo (Sarah Driscoll) of Philadelphia and Christopher Russo of Avoca; and chosen granddaughter Catelyn Feeney. She will be deeply missed by her companion, Cubbie, who watched over her daily. Also surviving her brothers Robert Davis (Anna Mae), William Davis (Milly), and Edgar Davis (Joan), numerous nieces and nephews,

as well as her Connecticut family.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 143 Parsonage St., Pittston, PA 18640.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00am at the Second Presbyterian Church, 143 Parsonage St., Pittston with Pastor Rodger Griffiths officiating. Friends may call for a walk thru visitation on Friday evening, February 5th from 4pm-7pm and also on Saturday morning from 10am until time of service. If attending the visitation or service please be mindful that protective masks and safe social distancing are mandatory at all times.
