Daniel F. Oschal, 79, of Moosic passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. He was born in Pittston on May 30, 1944 and was the son of the late George and Irene Piekarski Oschal of Pittston.
Daniel was a devoted member to Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He was a 1962 graduate of Pittston High School. After high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served with the United States National Guard. He retired from the University of Scranton, where he was employed for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Oschal Mongrandi, who died on September 15, 2015.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bernadette Brezak Oschal and his children Jennifer Siegel and her husband Brian of Alexandria, VA, Karen Oschal and her companion Matthew Buswell of Linden, VA, and Daniel Oschal and his companion Patricia Zupko of Avoca. Also surviving are his grandchildren Owen, Annie, and Emily Siegel of Alexandria, his brother George Oschal, Jr. of Exeter, his sister Helen Oschal of Pittston, and nieces and nephews.
A mass or Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Friday morning from 9am until time of mass. Private internment services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel’s name may be sent to Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca, PA 18641.
