Dante Volpe

Dante Volpe, 82, of Old Forge, Avoca, and Pittston, passed away on January 3, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. His wife is the former Theresa Alessi of Pittston. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born in 1939, Dante was the son of the late Mary and Patrick Volpe. He was raised and educated in Old Forge. He was a US Navy veteran.


Dante was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be terribly missed. He was a kindhearted person who always put his family first.


In addition to his wife, Dante is survived by his daughter, Sheri Burdyn and husband Stanley of Jessup and son, Dante of Dallas, PA; granddaughters, Caylie Burdyn, Ashley Burdyn, Gianna Volpe; and grandson, Dante Volpe III; sister Angela (Paige) Kania and brother Fredrick Volpe.


Dante was preceded in death by his sister Jean and brothers Anthony and Patrick.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may greet the Volpe family in the narthex of the church from 9:00am until time of mass. Interment will take place at the Italian American Cemetery, Moosic. Family and

friends that are attending the visitation or the mass are strongly encouraged to abide by the CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 and wear a facial mask when entering the church.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
