David J. Royce, Jr., 70, of Duryea, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at his home. He was born in Scranton, August 25, 1951 and was the son of the late David J. Royce Sr. and Edith May (Zech) Jones.
David was a member of the Brick United Methodist Church, Duryea. He attended Scranton Schools. He worked for Sandone Tire in Scranton for two decades and retired from Service Tire Truck Center, Jessup, with 22 years of employment. He loved his job at Service Tire Center and his fellow coworkers.
David was an avid fisherman; he loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with his family and friends, and his yearly trips to Disney World with his wife. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson Nathaniel David.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn (Hapersberger) Royce, his children; David Royce of Scranton, Tracy Edwards and her husband Jason, of Delaware, Laura Royce, of Moosic and Robert Bird, of Duryea. Also surviving are his sisters; Carol Young and her husband Duane, of Scranton, Sandra Calvey, of Scranton, and Florence Eldridge, of Scranton, many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
David’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses,
and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their excellent care and compassion they have shown to David and his family.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 6pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Sharon Dietz of the Brick United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call on Saturday afternoon from 4pm until time of service. David’s family requested that causal dress code is required if attending services. Interment will be privately held at the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
