Deanna Zarzecki, age 45, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones and family. She was born on May 22, 1980, in Suscon, Pennsylvania. Deanna was the daughter of the late Michael and Carol (Renfer) Zarzecki.

She attended the University of Scranton where she majored in education, eventually earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Deanna was a kind and caring teacher who was truly born to teach. She taught at Delaware Valley High School for over 15 years where she made countless friendships. She went above and beyond for her students, even making home-cooked breakfasts for them on statewide testing days, just one of the many ways she showed her unwavering care.
Deanna was beloved by all who knew her. She had a smile that could light up any room and carried a sense of joy that remained constant, even in life’s most difficult moments. She was a traveler and a goofball at heart, always ready to laugh and bring others along with her. Her passions for reading, writing, and music were unmatched, as was her love for Duke basketball.
Family was everything to Deanna. A loving cousin, her connection to family was unmatched. A selfless daughter, she stayed with and cared for her mother until her passing earlier this year, a true reflection of her care. A devoted sister, she shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings, Nicole and Michael; together, they were a beautiful force who embodied the very best of their family.
Above all else came Deanna’s nieces and nephew, Brooke, Michael, and Brianna. “Auntie” to them, she lived for those three. If you knew Deanna, you undoubtedly knew them too. Her bond with all three was truly one of a kind.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church (Queen of the Apostles Parish) in Avoca. A devout Catholic, her faith never wavered. In addition to her parents, Deanna is preceded in death by her brother, Michael F. Zarzecki, Jr.
She is survived by her loving sister, Nicole Casey, and her husband, Martin, of Dallas; and her cherished nieces and nephew, Brooke Casey, Michael Casey, and Brianna Casey, and countless cousins.Beloved by all who knew her, Deanna will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
