Dennis F. Walsh Jr., 79, of Nanticoke, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Nanticoke, November 7, 1942, and was the son of the late Dennis F. Walsh, Sr., and Louise (Popek) Walsh.
Dennis was born and raised in Nanticoke, a 1960 graduate of St. Vincent’s High School, where he was a catcher in baseball, which won him a scholarship that he had never taken, as he went directly to work to help support the family. He had worked at Atwater Throwing Company, Plymouth for a time, before becoming a Metropolitan Insurance agent, moving on to become a long-term employee of Topps Chewing Gum, until 1997 when it closed. He had then gone on to Plainwell Tissue, where he had retired.
Dennis held many active memberships at various social clubs throughout the area, where he was well known as “Denny” and loved by all whom he encountered. He was an avid sports fanatic, who love rooting for his Cleveland Browns and L.A. Dodgers but had an undying love for his “Fighting Irish”, which went along perfectly with his undoubted Irish spirit. He enjoyed everything outdoors, including a true passion for hunting or simply just a walk in the woods.
Above all else, Dennis’ children and two grandchildren were his entire world. A truly selfless individual, who was held in the highest regard by all that knew him.
Dennis is survived by his children, Jeff Walsh, of Shavertown, Dennis Walsh, of McKinney, TX, Michael Walsh, of California and Denise Walsh of Kingston. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Aiden and Avery Walsh, of Texas, brothers and sisters, John “Jack” Walsh and his wife Pamela, of Lake Silkworth, Gertrude Evans, of Dallas, Sandra Walsh, of Franklin Maine and Pamela Gonshor and her husband Michael, of Surfside, SC. And several nieces and nephews.
