Edward A. Yanchulis, Jr.

Edward A. Yanchulis, Jr., 74, of Suscon, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2023 at his home. He was born in Plains on August 3, 1948 and was the son of the late Edward A. Yanchulis, Sr. and Dolores Goman Yanchulis.

Edward attended Plains High School prior to enlisting in the United State Army. He bravely served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Edward had several jobs, which included operating his own construction company. Ultimately, he and his wife created Personalized Cleaning Services, which was in operation for over 22 years. Prior to his retirement, Eddie worked in the maintenance department at Mt. Airy Casino.

Faith was a devotion that Edward took seriously. He spent quiet mornings reading the Bible in honor of his love for God. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his entire family and neighbors. Whether ocean, lake, or river--the water was his cherished companion, the place where he found peace. His favorite vacation spot was Sunset Beach, NC--a place he enjoyed with family for many years.

Eddie thrived when in the role of "host" for gatherings of family and friends. He enjoyed sharing music; especially the oldies and encouraged everyone to "listen to the lyrics, because they tell a story."

Eddie took great pride in his 18 grandchildren with whom he built a special relationship with each one. For some, this might have been an impossible task, but he took the time with each child. He loved to dance, sing, play cards, bowling, billiards, talk about old cars, cook his famous "poor man pancakes" and share his carpentry skills with his grandchildren. He offered them a rich and robust bond that will forever

impact the quality of their lives.

He and Rose basked in the glory of their expansive, happy family and his life was "well lived" because of the love he gave and the love he received. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson Noah Jacob Yanchulis and his sister Joanie Stark.

Edward is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosemary Renfer Yanchulis; his children, Krista Leo and husband Dr. Joseph Leo of Mt. Cobb, Kim Conte and her husband Richard, of Dunmore, Kelly Romanczuk and her husband Jeff, of Harding, Edward Anthony Yanchulis III of Suscon and Daniel Yanchulis and his wife Stacey, of Olyphant; and grandchildren Francesco and Mela Leo, Richard, Emma Christopher, Leena and Colton Conte, Jeffrey, Ruby, and Paisley Romanczuk, Gabriella Yanchulis, and Abigail, Lyla, Isabell, Daniel Jr. Amelia and Jacob Yanchulis. Also surviving are his brother Michael Yanchulis, of Laceyville and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 11:30am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. August Ricciardi officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Monday morning, January 16, from 10am until time of mass. AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors.

Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
