Ernest Leroy Rush, Jr., 98, of Scranton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his home. Born in Williamsport, PA on March 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Ernest Leroy Rush and Grace (Wurster) Rush.

Ernest was a proud graduate of Williamsport High School and Lycoming College. He furthered his education at Purdue University and Colorado State University. A US Navy Veteran, he honorably served his country during WWII. Ernest spent much of his career with the Tandy Leather Company, dedicating 35 years to the company, 28 of which were in management.
An avid Penn State Football fan, Ernest loved the outdoors, particularly canoeing and camping trips with his family. He was a master builder of flintlock rifles and had a deep passion for shooting, hunting, fly fishing and fly tying.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Richard Rush.
Ernest is survived by his sons, Brian E. Rush of Laurel Run and Eric J. Rush, of Pittston; his grandchildren, Jennifer A. Szumski and her husband Brian, Bryan C. Rush, and Bradley J. Rush; and great-grandchildren, Maddy Malloy, Max Szumski, and Matthew Szumski.
Private Memorial services will be held at the Wildwood Cemetery, 91 Cemetery Rd., Williamsport, PA with the Williamsport Korean War Vets Honor Guard, providing military honors.
