Frances Annette (Genella) Ciampi

Frances Annette (Genella) Ciampi, 84, of the Austin Heights Section of Old Forge, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 14, 2025.  Born in Avoca on July 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia Grycewicz Genella.

Frances was a member of Prince of Peace Parish Church, Old Forge.  She graduated from Avoca High School, Class of 1960 and later retired from the Fox Hill Country Club, Exeter where she worked for many years.


Frances loved to garden and tend to her plants, especially the yearly fuchsia on Mother’s Day. She loved spending time outdoors. An avid tennis player, Frances spent countless cherished days at the Birchwood Racquet Club, where she was a member for many years. She was also a devoted Philadelphia Phillies Fan and enjoyed visiting casinos, where she loved to play the slots.


She adored her indoor cats, 17-year-old Rudy, and Honey Bun, and her outdoor cats, Honey Honey and Cutie.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edward “Teddy” Ciampi, who died on March 28, 2020 and her niece, Nicole Genella.


She is survived by her daughter, Christine Cortazzo and her husband Frank of Ocean City Maryland; her brother Ralph Genella and his wife Judy of Shippensburg, PA; as well as her nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00am at Prince of Peace Parish Church, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, PA 18518.


Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday morning at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea from 9:00am until 10:30am.

Fran was a lovely neighbor who enjoyed the fragrances coming from my herb garden, especially the basil. We'll miss seeing her on her back porch feeding and petting her outdoor kitties. Rest in peace Fran.
