Frances M. Chlipala Milewski

Frances M. Chlipala Milewski, a lifelong resident of Dupont, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at the age of 100 years young.

Born in Dupont on March 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Anna Kulig Chlipala. She graduated from Dupont High School and went on to attend Madame Fenwick's Beauty School where she attained a teaching license. Frances worked as a beautician and beauty shop manager before later becoming a seamstress. She worked for several local dress shops prior to retiring in 1983.

Her creative skillset extended far beyond the workplace. She was known for her neighborhood perms, family haircuts in her basement, homemade quilts, handmade clothes for her children, countless costumes for her grandchildren, and even processional outfits for the church. Most recently, Frances took up a new hobby as an artist using pencils and watercolors. She filled many books with her colorings and passed out her autographed favorites. She loved to show off all her works every time anyone came to visit.

Frances' faith and family were the center of her life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont from the time she was a child when she helped to clean and decorate the church. She was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Altar and Rosary Society, as well as St. Cecilia's Choir. She enjoyed attending daily Mass and watching EWTN, her weekly ladies' rosary group, and was never without her rosary beads, countless medals and prayer cards. Frances never missed an opportunity to instill and share her great sense of faith with her family. She loved to tell her lifetime of stories and as she illustrated that life was not always easy, she ended each time with "God is so good to me." She never faltered in her belief, and she worked fervently to impart that faith in her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Milewski, after 52 years of marriage, as well as her grandson Kevin Milewski, and her 12 siblings.

Surviving are her children, Ann Marie Romanko (Edward), Dupont; John Milewski (Mary Ellen), Moosic; Christine Rafalko (Adam), Dupont; and Doreen Kozak (Walter), Pittston Twp. Additionally, she will be immeasurably missed by her 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the Mass.

Interment will be in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frances' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
