George A. McCracken, 73, of Duryea, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Avoca on October 14, 1952, the son of the late Joseph and Edith Luvender McCracken.

George attended Pittston Area High School and before graduating, he proudly joined the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his return from the Vietnam, he worked in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He later retired from the Eureka Stone Quarry after many years of dedicated employment.
An avid outdoorsman, George loved hunting, but more than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his family and close friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Dora, Emma, Phoebe, and Laura, and by his brothers, Gary and Joe.
George is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary Miller McCracken; his children Kim Holley and her husband Bryan of Archbald, Jason McCracken and his companion Tiara Crawford of Tunkhannock, and his stepson David Budzak and his wife Valarie of Sweet Valley, PA. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Madison, McKenna, Noah, Sean, Hayden, Kamden, Parker, Charlotte and Jackson, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Decker of Duryea along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for George will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 6:00pm with the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston providing military honors at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.Â
Friends may call for visitation from 5:00pm until time of service.
