George Pearage, Jr., 95, of Bear Creek Twp. passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2025. Born in Dupont on February 15, 1930, he was the son of the late George and Anna (Rebovich) Pearage.

George attended Dupont schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1948 to 1952. Following his military service, he worked for Kaminski Brothers, Inc. and later retired from the Pipefitters Union Local 524. A hardworking and devoted man, George was also the owner and operator along with his family of “The Barn” a beloved gathering place located in Mtn. Lake. The establishment operated for 57 years and became well known for its warm hospitality and many memorable catered clam bakes.
He was a proud member of the Georgetown Conservation Club in Wilkes-Barre Twp., the American Legion of Georgetown, and the PAV Club in Hudson.
An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He especially looked forward to his yearly trips to Colorado for elk and mule deer hunting and to Lake Oneida, NY, for fishing. A devoted New York Yankees and Minnesota Vikings fan, he treasured time spent with his loved ones, who will forever remember his kind and generous spirit.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Delores Johnson Pearage, who passed away in 1991; his sisters, Eleanor Janiczek, Dorthy Dzuba; and his stepbrother Robert Drotar.
George is survived by his children: Ann Pearage Scheetz and her husband Jeffrey of Canandaigua Lake, NY; George R. Pearage and his wife April of Bear Creek Twp; Nancy Cebula and her husband Michael of Bear Creek Twp; and Kathleen Pearage of Bear Creek Twp. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Zachary Scheetz, Brian Scheetz and his wife Stacy, Daniel Cebula, Allison Lisowski and her husband Steven, Kaitlyn Pearage, Kassandra Cebula, Kristi Pearage and Kendall Pearage; great -grandchildren, Logan Scheetz, Reagan Lisowski, and Callum Scheetz; his sister, Nancy Kaminski of Mt. Top; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgetown Conservation Club, 233 ½ Pulaski St., Wilkes-Barre Twp., PA 18702 or to the Gary Sinise Foundation, P.O. Box 40726, Nashville, TN. 37204.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at 10:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Deacon Marty Castaldi of Divine Mercy Parish Church, officiating.
Friends may call for visitation on Friday evening, October 10th from 4pm-7pm. Interment will be held at the Laural Woods Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
