Gloria Lavelle

Gloria Lavelle, a lifelong resident of Moosic, entered into eternal rest at the age of 99 on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Serenity Care Assisted Living in Old Forge where she resided for the past 15 months. She was surrounded by family, friends, and staff.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Lavelle, who passed away on April 1, 2015. Gloria was a loving, and compassionate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always ready to help when needed. Gloria worked at Hillcrest Lamp Shade Factory in Old Forge while raising 5 children. She was passionate about animals and donated to local and national animal rescues for many years. After retirement, she and her husband became "snowbirds" during the winter months and traveled in their motorhome to Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada. Their travels also included spending time with friends in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Gloria and her husband similarly traveled around the country, where they organized and attended yearly Army Reunions for WWII Veterans.

Gloria was a lifelong parishioner of Queen of the Apostles Parish in Avoca.

Gloria is survived by her daughters: Sharon and husband Joseph McCawley (Moosic), Susan and husband John Boyko (Texas), sons: Robert and wife Andrea (Scranton), Peter and wife Georgette (Avoca), Patrick and wife Mary Joan (Spring Brook), grandchildren: Kristin, John, Rebekkah, Amanda, Kevin, Lisa, Peter, and Jeffery, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt "Thank You" to Dr. Nicholas Dodge and Sandy for the compassionate care and treatment of our mother throughout her life especially at the end.

Furthermore, the family would like to express extraordinary gratitude to the entire staff at Serenity Care in Old Forge for the exceptional care, compassion, and love they gave to our mother and grandmother. Gloria enjoyed all of the activities, especially BINGO, all of the outings, day trips, movie trips, ice cream trips, and parties. She loved getting her hair done at the salon every Tuesday, she enjoyed sitting in the dining room for her meals, and she enjoyed spending time with all of her friends at Serenity. The employees at Serenity are the "Best of the Best", and we will never forget them.

In addition, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff and nurses of Residential Hospice Care, especially Kaleen, who provided compassionate care and support to Gloria in her final days and to her family during this difficult time.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, PA 18641 on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St Duryea.
