Harold “Hal” Hannon

Harold “Hal” Hannon, 78, of West Avoca, died September 30, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp., PA.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of Christopher “Hal” and Hilda Perfetto Hannon.


Hal was retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot Electronics Division and a proud Veteran; serving as a Green Beret in the US Army.


He was a country music entertainer playing in bands throughout Pennsylvania.


He was a member of the West Side Social Club, West Avoca, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Michael, Ronald, and Benjamin.


Hal is survived by his loving wife, Janice, daughter Kim Gill, the apple of his eye, and son in law, Mike Gill.

He is also survived by brothers, Joseph, George, and Christopher Hannon and sister MaryAnn Maczuga and husband Lou, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.


It’s a sad day in West Avoca.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca, PA. With Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Interment will follow at SS Peter and Paul cemetery, Avoca.


Arrangements are being entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, PA.
