Helen M. McCool, 95, a resident of Highland Park Senior Living, Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Helen was born in Pittston on December 28, 1926 to John and Mary McNamara Gunning.
Helen graduated from Pittston High School, Class of 1945. She retired as a medical librarian from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Helen enjoyed a good card game, especially bridge, of which she held life master status. She also enjoyed traveling, Ireland and Florida being among her favorite destinations. She also enjoyed shopping and trips to the casino.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert De Nee and James McCool; son, Jacques De Nee; sister, Margaret; brothers, Joseph and John; and niece, Patricia McQueeney, whom she thought of as a daughter.
Helen is survived by her stepchildren, Jim McCool (Norma), Jeanette Ouellette (Phil), Lynn Girman (John); her grandchildren, Michael De Nee (Stephanie) and Michele Stiner (David); great-grandchildren, Jessica, Zion and Isla and several nieces
and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 30th at 10:15am in St. Ignatius Loyala Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston with Monsignor David L. Tressler officiating. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
