Jacqueline “Jackie” (Kowalcik) Purdy, 63, of Dupont, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Dupont, February 25, 1961, and was the daughter of the late Edward F. Kowalcik and Mildred (Dziuba) Kowalcik.
Jackie was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1979. She was employed at Denny’s Restaurant in both Wilkes-Barre and Pittston locations for over 30 years.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 34 years Mark Purdy, her children; Chrissy Wierzbolowicz, of Pittston, Nicole Argenio and husband Charlie, of Dupont, David Wierzbolowicz and his wife Cassy, of Maryland, Kaitlyn Stravinski and her husband Carl, of Pittston Twp., and Michael Purdy, of Dallas. Also surviving are her 11 grandchildren, Taylor, Allison, Isabella, Sophia, Logan, Emma, Ethan, Parker, Landen, Wyatt, and Payton. She is also survived by her sister JoAnn Rafalko and her husband Frank of Mountain Top and several nieces and nephews.
Jackie was everything to everyone. A friend, a sister, a wife, a mother, and an amazing grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and always had an extra plate for anyone who showed up at her house around dinner time. Her days off were spent watching her grandkids at “G’s Daycare” where there was a lot of care and a lot of chaos. She loved traveling to Maryland to visit her son (King David) and his family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Edward and John Kowalcik and her sister Janet Cefalo.
Jackie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley hospital as well as Dr. Alison Brodginski.
Memorial services for Jackie will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, at 7:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Fr. Phillip Sladicka of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 5pm until time of service.
It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of a dear friend I met 20 years ago at Denny’s. Over the years, her warmth and conversation became a cherished part of my life, and I will miss Jackie deeply. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Jackie was such a friendly, caring, patient soul . She was always helping me at Dennys. I was shocked to see her passing. My heart goes out to Nicole,Kaitlyn and the rest of the family. I know she'll be missed terribly. RIP Jackie. ❤️🙏
