James Balchune, 39, of Duryea, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea on June 30, 1981 and was the son of James and Dana (Kudey) Balchune.

Jimmy was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and was always ready to volunteer for anyone in need. He was a New York Giants fan, avid listener of rock music, and a lover of the outdoors. He was also a loyal friend to so many important people in his life. Most importantly, Jimmy was an amazing father that instilled an honorable, loving, and supportive foundation in his children’s lives. Lastly, Jimmy was a hero. He was an organ donor and helped save the lives of seven people due to his constant desire to help and support others.
His grandfathers, Charles Balchune and Ray Kudey, preceded him in death.

So very sorry to all the Balchune family for the loss of Jimmy. I remember him mostly from his Little League days. RIP
I have been heartbroken since hearing the news of young Jimmy’s passing. I cannot put into words how sorry I am for your loss. I will always remember the good times we had while Jimmy, Jason, Jared and my son Jason were growing up. This world is a lesser place without that boy with the biggest most beautiful smile.
My most sincere and deepest condolences to you all during this time of deep sorrow.
