James Balchune

James Balchune, 39, of Duryea, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea on June 30, 1981 and was the son of James and Dana (Kudey) Balchune.

Jimmy was a loyal husband, loving father, son, grandson, and brother. Jimmy always had the biggest smile, but truly had an even bigger heart and would always help anyone in need. He will be missed dearly by his wife, children, parents, brothers, cousins, and grandparents.

Jimmy was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and was always ready to volunteer for anyone in need. He was a New York Giants fan, avid listener of rock music, and a lover of the outdoors. He was also a loyal friend to so many important people in his life. Most importantly, Jimmy was an amazing father that instilled an honorable, loving, and supportive foundation in his children’s lives. Lastly, Jimmy was a hero. He was an organ donor and helped save the lives of seven people due to his constant desire to help and support others.

His grandfathers, Charles Balchune and Ray Kudey, preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of seven years, Amy (Polak) Balchune, his children Logan and Mia, both at home; and his brothers Jason and his wife April, of Rock Hill, SC and Jarred and his fiancé Shannon George, of Duryea. Also surviving are his grandmothers Lois Balchune, of Duryea and Ann Marinelli- Kudey, of Old Forge, and numerous nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.

So very sorry to all the Balchune family for the loss of Jimmy. I remember him mostly from his Little League days. RIP

I have been heartbroken since hearing the news of young Jimmy’s passing. I cannot put into words how sorry I am for your loss. I will always remember the good times we had while Jimmy, Jason, Jared and my son Jason were growing up. This world is a lesser place without that boy with the biggest most beautiful smile.

My most sincere and deepest condolences to you all during this time of deep sorrow.
