JoAnn (Struchko) Bennie, 81, of Moosic, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Elan Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton surrounded by her loving family. Born in Scranton on December 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Prolick) Struchko.

JoAnn was a faithful member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was especially proud to have been part of the first graduating class of Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in 1955 and later graduating from Abington Heights High School in 1963. JoAnn devoted herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. Later, she was employed at Kmart Department Store in Moosic, a job she truly enjoyed, where she formed many lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike.
She was a kind and generous woman and a devoted daughter to her beloved mother, taking meals to her weekly, always ensuring she had everything she needed.  JoAnn loved decorating her home for holidays, baking, and hosting large holiday dinners for her family. She found joy in tending to her garden, relaxing on her porch while visiting with neighbors, and chatting daily with her mailman-always making sure he had a drink and a snack. She also enjoyed trips to the local farmers market. JoAnn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Bennie of Moosic; and her son William Bennie of Moosic; Her sisters, Marlyin Iiams of Scranton and Jeannie Rosencrance and her husband, Kenneth, of Newton Ransom; and her brother Joseph Struchko of Archbald. Â She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved granddogs, Winston and Molly, whom she loved to spoil with treats.Â
The family would like to thank Dr Darlene Dunay for over thirty years of devoted care to JoAnn.
