Joanne J. Rushton, 78 passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Allied Service Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Joanne was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 23, 1943, to John and Genevieve Baron of Plains, PA. She graduated from Marymount High School in 1961.
Joanne spent her professional career in banking, beginning as a key puncher for United Penn Bank and working her way to Vice President of Banking Operations with Mellon Bank. She later earned her real estate license and was affiliated with Rundle Real Estate in Mountain Top.
Joanne was a member of Holy Saviour/St. Andre Besette Parish and served as a lector.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Thomas Rushton, in 2016 and her parents, John in 1993, and Genevieve, in 1984.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Tim and Doreen (Gatusky) Rushton Lewes, Delaware; Bonnie and Thomas Gregory, Shavertown; Dr. Scott and Kristen (Costigan)Rushton, Media; and 10 grandchildren, Janelle and Talia Rushton, Dean and Lynea Gregory and Scott, Matthew, Alexandra, Christopher, Sean and Julia Rushton. She is also survived by her sister Jean Kotsko, Nanticoke and her brother, John Baron and sister-in-law, Chris (Miele) Laflin; Robert and Marianne Rushton, brother & sister-in-law, nieces; nephews; and 2 great-nephews.
There will be no viewing hours. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
