John M. Boyanowski, 76, of Dupont, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Highland Manor Nursing and rehab center, Exeter. He was born in Dupont on September 10, 1947, and was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Harmonas) Boyanowski.
John was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and then joined the US Army reserve having served during the Vietnam War. John worked as a self-employed mason and was the owner and operator of John Boyanowski Masonry. He was a member of the Dupont VFW Post 4909 and a member of the Polish American Citizens Club of Dupont.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Leonard and Bernard Boyanowski.
John is survived by his daughters Anissa Akulonis and her husband Alfred, of Duryea and Laura Boyanowski and her partner Erica Calvert of Clarks Summit. Also surviving are his granddaughter, Mary Hanlon; brothers Henry of Connecticut and Raymond of Texas; his sister Martha Nosal of Connecticut; and his longtime friend and sidekick Peggy Grassi.
Memorial services will be held for John at a later date to be announced.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
