Kathleen Ryan McGlynn, of Avoca passed away peacefully in her home on Monday morning after a battle with cancer. She would have turned 79 on Thursday, August 4th, 2022. She was born in Hoboken, NJ on August 4th, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Ellen O’Sullivan Ryan formerly of Pittston.
Kathleen was a hard worker, and worked in New Jersey factories, Hostess Cupcake and Maybelline Cosmetics. What she loved most was the family business. She moved to PA to help open and operate HOBO Base Hoagies with her sister Cookie and brother-in-law Jack “Hobo” Gilmartin. Above all she loved her teen years growing up on 14th Street in Hoboken, NJ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Patrick McGlynn, who died February 22, 2009; her sisters Lorainne “Cookie” Ryan Gilmartin and Mary Alice Ryan; her brother Francis “Sonny” Ryan; and her son-in-law David Maroni.
She is survived by her daughters: Mary Kate
McGlynn of Duryea and Margaret McGlynn and her fiancé Shawn Price of Old Forge; sons, Michael Ryan and his wife Gircelly, of Kingston and Raymond Lyons, of Carbondale. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jason J. Catalono, Vincent P. Maroni, Giovanni J. Maroni, Shawn Patrick Price, and Adrianna Maroni; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was often the family confidant and shoulder to anyone who needed her. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 5th at 4pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St. with Fr. Phillip Sladicka of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 4:30-7pm. Interment will be held on Saturday morning, August 6th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
