Lois M. Velehoski, 80, of Glendale, passed away on Monday, August 1st, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Glendale on September 11, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Davies Thomas.
Lois was a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church, Moosic. She was a graduate of Moosic High School, class of 1959 and then attended the McCann School of Business. She worked in the local garment industry and was employed with Dury Clothing and Aureus Clothing. Lois then went on to work for Prudential Life, Moosic and retired in 2014 with 20 years of employment.
Lois loved to travel; she enjoyed taking long drives and her many trips to Mystic, CT with her family. She loved shopping, bird watching, and most of all just being with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Velehoski, who died December 9, 2012, her sister Carole Thomas, and her dog Chin whom she
adored.
Lois is survived by her children: Joseph Velehoski and his wife Ellen, of Duryea, Timothy Velehoski of Glendale, and Amy Velehoski and companion Michael Richards, of Glendale; her grandchildren: Megan Mead and her husband Josh, Sarah Velehoski; and her great-granddaughter, Julie Grace Mead. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her fur babies: Seamus, Charleigh, Finnegan, and Boomer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, at 1:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Dr. Phillip T. Wanck officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, August 4th from 5pm-8pm and also on Friday August 5th from 12pm until time of service. Interment will be held at the Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca.
