Margaret A. Solt

Margaret A. Solt, 77, of Pittston, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  She fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, took God’s hand and entered Heaven’s gate.  She was born and raised in Jenkins Twp. on April 18, 1946, and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Sivahop.

Marge was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1964.  She worked along with her husband of 39 years, Walter Solt, Sr., who died May 4, 2008, at their family business, Penn Creative Litho, Old Forge.  She then went on to cook alongside her daughter Linda and son-in-law Charles at their family business Charlie B’s Pub and Eatery, Plains.

Marge enjoyed being with her family, going to Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun, coffee dates, and cooking homemade foods.  She enjoyed spending time with the customers at Charlie B’s Pub.  She was a tough, hardworking, honest and generous woman.  She never wanted any attention on her and would always ask how others were doing.  To quote Marge she could be heard giving this advice “never give up, no matter what life’s obstacles come”.

She married Walt in 1968 and had two children, Walter Jr. of Swoyersville and Linda and her husband Charles Burke, of Pittston; grandchildren Brandi and her husband, who she called her grandson, Donny Sklanka, and Walter III and his wife Kirstin; great-grandchildren Hailey and Gavin Sklanka and Johnathon and Xavier Solt; and her nieces and nephews. Marge will be our family’s fiercest guardian angel and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 4:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Michael Shambora officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Saturday afternoon from 3pm until the time of service.  Interment will be held at St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Exeter.
