Margaret Joyce (O’Malley) Volch, 84, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was born in Avoca on October 17, 1941, and was the daughter of the late James F. O’Malley and Mary Linnen O’Malley.

Margaret was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church until its closing and was a graduate of Avoca High School, Class of 1960. She worked at Smith’s Restaurant in Scranton for 10 years and later worked at McDonald’s in Moosic, where she retired after 30 years of employment.
Margaret was a social member of the Avoca VFW Post 8335. She enjoyed vacationing with her sisters, having traveled throughout the United States and abroad. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walter “Chips” Volch, who died on June 3, 2016.
She is survived by her children: Walter Volch Jr. and his companion, Nancy Pitts, of West Wyoming; Joyce Williams and her companion,
Carl Schwink, of Avoca; and Michael Volch and his wife, Jessica, of Duryea. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric Volch; Jessica Stanco and her husband, Chris; and Marissa Williams and her fiancé, Ty O’Brien; her great-grandchildren: Jonathan Volch, Noah Hinz, Caleb Volch, and Gavin Volch; and her many extended grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Mary Jane Fuller Horan of Lancaster, PA; Betty Ann Diskin of Fort Myers, FL; and Patricia Miles of Duryea; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A blessing service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. #O’Malley #Volch
