Margaret “Peg” Bartosiewicz Gusinski, 70, of Avoca, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She was born in Avoca, March 5, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Eleanor (Roman) Bartosiewicz.
Peg was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Northeast High School, Duryea and Marywood College. She worked many years for Colgate Palmolive and retired as the owner and operator of Abba’s Promise Arts and Crafts. Peg was also a certified lay chaplain and worked as a lay chaplain for many hospitals and nursing facilities.
Peg and her family were very active with their Christian Faith, by working and helping diverse communities, they did Mission work in Haiti and the Appalachians of West Virginia. For many years, they volunteered for Ruth’s Place Social and Welfare Service, of Wilkes-Barre and with Sister Adrian Barrett’s Friends of the Poor in Scranton. Peg and her family traveled with and worked with John and Paula Sandford, the Founders of Elijah House Prayer Ministry and also with Judith and Francis McNutt Prayer Ministry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Gusiniski, who passed away December 23, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter Megan Gusinski, of Avoca; her brothers Gene and his wife Sharon Bartosiewicz of Pittston Twp. and Robert and his wife Donna Bartosiewicz, of Avoca; as well as many cousins and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ruth’s Place Social and Welfare Services, 425 N. Penn Ave., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 12:00pm at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 11:30am until time of mass. If attending the visitation or the mass, kindly use your discretion. Masks are mandatory in the Church. Interment will take place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.

I am so sorry to read of Peg’s passing. We grew up together in rarified neighborhood of William St. before it was an exit for Interstate 81. All of us knew each other & if you screwed up anyone’s parent could tell you about it!
