Mari Karen (Masters) Coggins, 68, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at Dunmore Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 4, 1957, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Rita (Smith) Masters.

Mari is survived by her children, Gerard Coggins, Jr. and wife Cynthia, of Old Forge, and Nicole Luke and husband Dr. Kyle Luke, of Greenville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Grant Luke, Amelia Coggins, and Gerard Marc Coggins; her sister, Joanne Naher and husband Mark, of Scranton; her niece, Lauren Batyko and husband Chris, of South Abington Township; and her aunt, Marie Letterio Masters, of Dunmore.

She was a 1975 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Mari worked for many years at JCPenney catalog until its closure. She later retired from the Social Security Administration.

Mari treasured time spent with her family and friends and especially enjoyed her trips to the beach. She loved watching episodes of Law & Order, reading a good book, and taking long walks around her neighborhood. On warm days, she could often be found relaxing by her pool.

Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Darlene Dunay, the staff at The Pines Senior Living Center, the staff at Dunmore Health Care Center, and the nurses at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to support clinical research for a cause that was very important to her.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m. with family accepting visitors one hour prior at the funeral home.
