Marie A. (Lepore) Dooner, 92, a resident of Avoca, passed away to her eternal reward on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 after a brief illness at the Highland Manor Nursing Facility, Exeter. Marie was born in Pittston, PA on February 14, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Mary and John Lepore of West Pittston.
Marie was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a retired employee from JCPenney in its drug division, having been employed for many years. Marie was very active in social events and activities with friends and family throughout her years. She also treasured her times with friends, partaking in her weekly visits to the movies followed by enjoying pizza, and a beer. She also enjoyed her visits to the health club for a nice leisurely swim.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Dooner; companions, Donald Sammon and Donald Hoban; sisters Anna, Clara, Louise, Rosemary, Helen, Isabel their husbands; and brother Gene and his wife Irene; and several nieces and nephews.
Marie is survived by her son, James, along with several nieces and nephews and friends.
Due to events surrounding our nation, funeral services will be private at this time. A memorial service for Marie will be held at a future date and time. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca with
private interment services at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
