Martha Aldrich Zaleski

Martha Aldrich Zaleski, 81, of Avoca, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 17, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Avoca, August 18th, 1942, and was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Evans) Aldrich.


Martha was a member of The Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca.  She was a graduate of Avoca High School, class of 1960. She then attended the Jerrytone School of Beauty, Pittston and was a licensed beautician having worked with many of her clients out of her home in Avoca.  She was employed for many years at the McKinney Corporation, Scranton and retired in 2007.

 

After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling. She traveled throughout the United States while also visiting many places throughout the world and enjoyed her yearly trip to Myrtle Beach, NC with her family and friends.  Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Jean Pointon, her brother George Aldrich, and her longtime companion of many years Bob Seber.

 

Martha is survived by her sons; Edward and his wife Tara, of Old Forge, Joseph and his wife Janet of Avoca, Matthew and his wife Lori, of Mtn. Top, and Nicolas and his wife Sarah, of McLeansville, NC.  Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren; Edward Zaleski III, Jeffrey, Stephen, Justine, Jillian, Jenna, Jacob, Michael, Andre, and Jaxon; her two great grandchildren, Dalton and Amia Zaleski; her sister Kathryn Guziewicz and her husband Al, of Avoca; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 6:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Michael Shambora officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Thursday evening from 5pm until time of service.

We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Ed,Joe,Matt and Nick. Your Mom was a wonderful person who would try to help anyone she could. Rest assured that she is in Heaven with the good shepherd looking down on you guys. Again,so sorry. Lin&Bob Pointon

My deepest condolences to the Zaleski and Aldrich families, as well as everyone who was lucky enough to have known Martha. She was a sweet, fun, generous, and an all around amazing person. Someone whom I loved as family. She will be greatly missed. Cheers in heaven, Martha, to a life well lived!!

Grieving from afar.......so sad I cannot be there on Thursday. Sending my love to Ed, Joe, Matt, and Nick and my Mom. Aunt Mart was such a part of my life growing up, she was more that just an Aunt. So many fond memories. I will never forgot her and will miss her!
