Mary Ann (Cruise) Corcoran, 96, a life-long resident of Avoca, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the Glenmaura Senior Living Center in Moosic, where she was a resident for the past three years.  She was born in Avoca on October 30,1929, and was the daughter of the late Genevieve (Toolin) Cruise.

Mary Ann was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church (Queen of The Apostles Parish) in Avoca. She was a graduate of Avoca High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation, she was employed by the Bell Telephone Company, where she dedicated over 40 years of service before retiring.

Mary Ann took great pride in her garden and yard and found joy in spending time outdoors. She enjoyed trips to the casino with friends, solving crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble.  She cherished staying connected with her former co-workers from Bell Telephone, and spending time with her family.  Mary Ann truly enjoyed her final years at the Glenmaura Senior Living Center and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Corcoran, who passed away on January 9, 2010.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Place, and her husband Rich, of Street, Maryland; her son, Brian Corcoran and his wife Ann, of Duryea; and her grandson, Brian Corcoran and his companion Sarah Galvin of Dupont.

Mary Ann’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Glenmaura Senior Living Center for the compassionate and excellent care they provided to Mary Ann over the past three years.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00am at St Mary’s Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Monday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duyea.  Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
