Mary Ann Shotwell Zeller

Mary Ann Shotwell Zeller, 70, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Hospice Of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  Born in Avoca on June 13, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (O’Malley) Shotwell.

A 1973 graduate of Pittston Area High School, Mary Ann was employed at Topps Chewing Gum in Duryea before pursuing her career as a nurse’s aide.  She dedicated her life to caring for others, working at many local nursing centers, and was most recently employed at River Run Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston.


Mary Ann found joy in spending time with her family and grandchildren. She especially loved playing with her beloved canine companion, Beba, and visiting with friends. Known for her warm heart, she was always willing to put others before herself.  Her kindness, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Larry L. Zeller Sr., who passed away on April 23, 2006, as well as her brothers, William, Thomas and Patrick Shotwell.


She is survived by her devoted daughter and caretaker, Rachelle, with whom she resided; her sons, Larry L. Zeller Jr. and his wife Aimee, of Dunmore, and Scott M. Zeller, of Nuangola; and her cherished grandchildren Isabella Zeller, Lawrence Zeller, Scott Michael Zeller Jr., Brandon Zeller, Hunter Zeller, Kaylee Zeller, Nikilla Pearsall and Laron Pearsall.  Also surviving are her sister, Catherine Polak of Duryea;  many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and her beloved canine companion Beba.


Mary Ann’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caring coworkers, as well as the nurses and staff from Hospice Of the Sacred Heart, for the kindness and excellent care they provided to Mary Ann and her family.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society NEPA PO Box 862 Carnegie, PA 15106.


Celebration of life services for family and friends will be held at a later date.


Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St. Duryea.
