With great sorrow on January 2, 2021 our beloved mother Mary Vargo, 96, passed away to be at home with our Heavenly Father in Heaven. She was born on June 3, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Mary Legezdh.
After battling many health issues over the past few years, she lost her final battle due to complications of Covid-19. We will forever miss that contagious smile when anyone entered her room and always followed with a warm hug.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Vargo, Sr.; sons, Richard and Stephen; parents Frank and Mary Legezdh; and brothers John, George, and Frank.
Mary is survived by sons Paul, Frank and Maria Lonzetta Vargo, David and Loriann Vargo, Jon and Mary Ann Vargo, and Robert and Rosemary Donnelly Vargo. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews whom she could name on a any given day; along with many friends and acquaintances
Mary was life long member of St. Michael's Byzantine Church, Pittston, PA, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 4909 Dupont, PA, and was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary Post 189 Dupont, PA.
We would also extend our thanks and gratitude to the Executive Director, administration, nursing and staff at Wesley Village Pittston, PA and Allied Services Skilled Nursing Clarks-Summit, PA for their outstanding care and for making Mary a member of their extended family.
A mass of Christian burial will be privately held at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston. Interment services will be privately held at the parish cemetery.
