Michael T. Hope, 69, of Dupont passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in East Stroudsburg on November 26, 1950 and was the son of the late Walter Hope and Pauline (Hahn) Featherman.
Michael was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School. He then joined the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. For many years, Michael worked as a Police Officer for the Covington Twp. Police Department and for the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He retired from the Lowes Distribution Center, Pittston Twp. as a security guard.
Michael served as Commander of the VFW Post 4909, Dupont. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father Bill Featherman.
Michael is survived by his daughters; Shelly Schultz and her husband Andrew, of Florida and Marci Hope Rutkowski and her husband Joseph, of Jenkins Twp; his grandsons; Cory Litts and Mark Naples; his fiancé of five years Martha Braun; his sister Liana Barnes and her husband Dave of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday morning, September 8th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca with Fr. Thomas Petro of Sacred Heart Of Jesus
Church, Dupont officiating. Military honors will be provided by the AMVETS Honor Guard and the VFW Post 4909. Friends may call for visitation on Monday evening, September 7th from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. If attending services or the visitation please be mindful that masks and physical distancing are required at all times.
