Muriel (Connelly) Grossman

Muriel (Connelly) Grossman, 93, of Duryea, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 13, 2026.  Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Lillian Hudson Connelly.


Muriel was a faithful member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea and a graduate of Waltham High School.  She devoted many years to her family as a loving stay-at-home mother. Later, she was employed by the Quaker Oats corporation in Mountain Top, from which she retired. In retirement, Muriel generously gave her time volunteering with several organizations.


She found great joy in shopping and, most especially, in spending time with her large and cherished family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Grossman; her siblings, Stephen Connelly, Fred Connelly, Francis Connelly, Carolyn Connelly, Phyllis Pitts, and Donald Connelly; and her infant brother, Robert Connelly.


She is survived by her children: Debbie Jacobs of Duryea; Karen Connelly of California; Cathy Myatt of North Carolina; Steven Grossman of North Carolina; Ridena Crompton of Utah; Jon Grossman and his wife, Jean of Connecticut; Scott Grossman and his wife, Ginger, of North Carolina; and Danette Marlow of North Carolina.  She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great – great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:30am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, with Fr. Michael Bryant officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Friday morning from 9:30am until the time of Mass.  Interment will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea.


Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
