Nicholas Francis “Nicky” Solano

Nicholas Francis “Nicky” Solano, of Duryea passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022, at the PAM Health Specialty Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born August 27, 1950, and was the son of the late Fred and Betty Smith Solano.

Nick was educated in the Pittston City School District and before his retirement, he worked for PennDOT and the City of Pittston. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler, New York Yankee, and Penn State Fan. Anyone who knew Nicky knew of his love for the “King” Elvis Presley, Clint Eastwood, and driving around listing to his favorite Music.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Charles.


Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, the former Grace Walsh Solano. Also surviving are sons Guy and Nicholas Solano, Jr., and stepson Jason Llewellyn, Duryea; grandchildren Ariana and Nico Solano, Pittston; brother Frederick (Linda) Solano, Wyoming; sister-in-law Beverly Solano and companion Joseph Costello, Pittston; nieces Pamela Coleman, Amanda, Sarah and Rachael Solano; and great niece Alice Coleman; as well as numerous cousins and a multitude of friends including his lifelong friend, Al Perry of Pittston.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 9:30am at Corpus Christi Parish Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, with Monsignor John J. Sempa officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday evening, May 3rd from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Pittston Cemetery.
