Pamela R. (Bell) Hanczyc

Pamela R. (Bell) Hanczyc, 74, of Hughestown, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at her home. She was born in Pittston, July 5, 1946 and was the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Herbert) Bell.

Pamela was a member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hughestown. She was a 1964 graduate of Northeast High School, Hughestown and a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in education. Pamela worked many years for the Pittston Area School District and also taught preschool for Sandcastle Day Care Center, Pittston. She retired as director of Bright Smiles Day Care Center, Moosic.

Pamela was very active with her church. She served as a Eucharist Minister and also served on the church council. She enjoyed knitting, reading and working in her garden, but most of all she enjoyed spending her time with her family and her friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Francis G. Hanczyc, who died March 4, 2016, her sister-in-law Diane Bell, and brother-in-laws Alan and Richard Hanczyc.

She is survived by her daughter Dana Hanczyc, of Hughestown; her brothers James Bell and his wife Jill, of Pittston and Scott Bell and his wife Judy, of West Wyoming; sister-in-law Mary Hanczyc, of Pittston; her nieces and nephews, Brett and Lisa Lochner, James Bell, Zachary Bell, Joleen and Mike Skatuler, Sawyer Gai, Ian and Cassie Bell, Scott Bell, Kyle Bell, Stephen and Marci Bell, Melissa and Matt Phillips and Alan Hanczyc; several great nieces and great nephews; and her faithful dog Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pamela’s name to any Veteran Charities, Animal Rescue Charities and/or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 100 Rock St., Hughestown, PA 18640.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family only with a public memorial to be held some time in the future.
