Patrick Donlan

Patrick Donlan, 66, of Blakely passed away on April 5, 2024, at Marywood Heights Senior Living and Nursing Center, Scranton after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer.  Born in Scranton on August 18, 1957, he was the son of the late Dorothy Freeman Donlan and the Honorable Fraser P. Donlan, Sr.


Patrick graduated from Valley View High School, Johnson School, and attended SUNY University at Binghamton, NY.  For many years Patrick worked for Contempri Homes and Penn Bedding.

 

For 40 years, Patrick walked his dogs through Blakely, Peckville, Jessup, and Olyphant and made many friends.  Patrick was well known for his sense of humor and kindness to others.  He was a loyal friend, a wonderful brother and uncle, and a respected neighbor.  Patrick was always willing to help anyone in need.  He was a devoted son and caretaker to his parents.  Patrick belonged to dart and pool leagues and was a champion in both sports.

 

Patrick received wonderful care from Dr. Bethel and Dr. Jacobs and their neurosurgery staff, Geisinger cancer doctors and nurses, Dr. Rashid and staff at Mt. Pleasant, his trained cap aide Laressa Pawelski, Interim Homecare nurses and aides, Dr. Churilla and staff at Northeast Radiation, and compassionate care from Sacred Heart Hospice in his home. Patrick’s family would also like to thank the kind staff of Marywood Heights for their excellent care and compassion.

 

His brother-in-law John Stafursky, his sister Sandra Ann Stafursky and Laressa Pawelski were his caretakers in his home.  His brother, Fraser Donlan, Jr. traveled to PA many times to provide companionship and emotional support.

 

Patrick is survived by his sister Sandra Ann Stafursky, her husband John, his brother Fraser Donlan, Jr., his wife Sandy, their son Joey Donlan, their daughter Jenny Donlan-Fizgibben and her wife Rebecca, four great-nieces Jessica, Ava, Leah Stafursky, Sienne Donlan, and one great-great nephew Hudson Thomas, and Patrick’s best friends Donny Hopkins and Gloria Kuchanski.

 

As per Patrick’s wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral services. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Patrick’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
