Paul Pakutka, 91, of Duryea, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton.

Born on June 3, 1934, in Duryea, Paul was the son of the late Leo and Victoria (Murzenski) Pakutka. He was a devoted member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church in Duryea and a proud graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1952.
Following graduation, Paul began his career with the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In June of 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he dedicated 34 years of service before retiring as a computer specialist.
In retirement, Paul embraced life fully. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, spending winters in Arizona, and vacationing in Myrtle Beach. He also had a fondness for horse racing. Above all else, Paul cherished time spent with his beloved family, who meant everything to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his grandson, Lee Pakutka, and his sisters, Helen Pakutka, Emily Matechak, and Leah Serovinski.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Amicone of Old Forge, and his son, Joseph Pakutka and his wife, Lori, of Scranton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, and Jamie Pakutka; Mark Matisko; and Michael Matisko and his wife, Kerri; his great-grandchildren, Luca Matisko and Chase Pakutka; his sister, Ann Shrader of Duryea; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Duryea, with military honors provided by the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine Street, Duryea.
