Paula Korda, 63, of Dupont, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at her home. She was born in Dupont on April 7, 1958 and was the daughter of the late Casmier “Whistler” Opiela and Valerie (Wanat) Opiela.
Paula was a 1976 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College and Lackawanna County Jr. College. She worked for the Lower Lackawanna County Sewer authority for 20 years, in sales for Keystone Automotive for many years and was currently working for Geisinger Medical Center as a Medical Coder.
Paula loved animals; her dog Franny was her life. She was very skilled in arts and crafts and specialized in ceramics. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brothers, Raymond Opiela and his wife Lynn, of South Carolina and David and his wife Elaine, of Exeter. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Joshua, of Washington, David of Dupont and Eric of Worcester,
MA; her great niece Sara, of Dupont; and great nephews Michael of Dupont and Kolby of Washington.
A blessing service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 4:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Fr. Thomas Petro of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont officiating. Friends may call on Friday evening from 5pm-7pm. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont on Saturday, November 27, at 10:30am.
