Richard F. Walko, 77, of Pittston, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Wesley Village Nursing and Rehab Center, Pittston. He was born in Swoyersville on May 10, 1946 and was the son of the late John F. and Julia Lencoski Walko.
Before his retirement, he was employed by Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Sharon A. (Odzana) Walko, who died June 28, 2012; his brother, John Walko; sisters, Emily Walko, Christine Volansky and her husband Edward; and his niece Susan Walko.
Richard is survived by his stepdaughter and caregiver Bernadine Hoover and her husband Herbert of Duryea. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Richard’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wesley Village Nursing and Rehab Center for the excellent care that they provided to Richard.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening, May 25, 2023, at 6:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with
Fr. Michael Bryant of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Thursday evening from 5pm until time of service at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Scranton.
