Rita (Puteria) George, 85, of Avoca, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Edwardsville on May 1, 1936 and was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Puteria.
Rita was a devote Christian and an active member of Our Lady of The Eucharist Parish Church, Pittston. She was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. Rita retired from Laura Fashions, Avoca as a seamstress after many years of employment.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William F. George, Jr. who passed away September 18, 2021; son William J. George; her sister Bernadine Belles; and her brother Jack Puteria.
Rita is survived by her sons, Robert, of Avoca and John and his wife Jill, of Pittston Twp.; her grandchildren, Jessica and her fiancé James, Brittany, Madison, and Hailey; her great-grandchildren Riley, James, Abbigale, Colby, Kynsley and Ryker; her niece Ann Marie Belles; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 10:00am at Our Lady of The
Eucharist Parish Church, 535 North Main St., Pittston with Fr. Paul McDonnell officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Monday evening from 5-7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the mass; there will be no procession. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming.
