Robert “Bob” Kelly

Robert “Bob” Kelly, 81, of Avoca, passed away, surrounded by his family on Monday November 15, 2021, at Hospice of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was born in Archbald, April 3, 1940, and was the son of the late Edwin and Genevieve (Dougher) Kelly.

Bob was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea. He was a graduate of Archbald High School, Class of 1959. Bob then joined the US Army, serving with the 101st Airborne Division for three years while stationed in Germany. Upon his discharge from the Army, he took advantage of the G.I. Bill and attended Lackawanna County Junior College. Robert retired from Thompson Consumer Electronics-RCA in Dunmore after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the American Legion Post 607, Avoca and was a former member of the Seton Catholic Men’s Club, Pittston.


Dad spent his retirement years having family and friends’ conversations on his backyard swing, restoring vintage bikes for the grandkids, daily cruises in his beloved T-Bird, and social visits to the American Legion. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kelly, and his sister, Patricia Brechtel.


Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (Lenartowicz) Kelly and his children Sean Kelly of

Honey Brook, PA, Robert Kelly, and his wife Theresa, of New Mexico, Kristine Danilovitz and her husband Jeff of Moosic, and Kimarie Segiel and her husband Richard of Covington Twp. Also surviving Bob are grandchildren Kendall, Reiley, and Brooke Kelly, Skylr and Wyatt Kelly, Lacey and Daniel Danilovitz and Sebastian and Christian Segiel; his sister Ann Ellen Brunori and her husband Leo, of Archbald; sister-in-law Mary Ann Kelly; brother-in-law Fredrick Brechtel; brother-in-law Thomas Hannon; and many nieces and nephews.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 1:00pm at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 11:45am until time of mass. Interment will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea with the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston providing military honors.
