Robert D. Campbell, affectionately known as “Uncle Bob,” or “Florida Dude” passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob grew up in Gulfport, Florida, before eventually settling in Dupont, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Laura (Shimmon) Campbell and the renowned lion tamer Robert Campbell, Jr. From them, he inherited a deep love for animals and a natural connection to the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or even wrestling alligators, Bob found joy and peace in nature. His respect for the land and its creatures was a defining part of who he was.
Bob spent many years working in construction before retiring early, trading job sites for the great outdoors. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, always ready with a story about his latest adventure. Just this past hunting season, he bagged one of the biggest deer of his life, and during last year’s trout opener, he was the first to reel one in, a moment he took great pride in.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Marie, and beloved father Robert Campbell, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Laura Campbell, and his lifelong friend, Edie Campbell, Jennifer’s mother. He also leaves behind his nephews, Dr. Austin Plummer and Christopher Plummer, and his great-nephews, Liam Plummer and Calvin Plummer, who all reside in Florida, along with other cherished family and friends there. Bob’s extended family and many friends in Pennsylvania, including his best friend and “brother,” John Cebula, will forever cherish his memory.
Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and ability to turn any moment into a story worth telling. His kindness, laughter, and love of music touched many lives. Nothing lit up a room quite like hearing Bob sing his favorite song, "Seminole Wind," with passion and soul.
No formal services will be held, but several celebrations of life will take place at later dates. Those who loved Bob are encouraged to honor his memory in their own way, sharing stories, raising a glass, and celebrating the life he lived.
Rest easy, Uncle Bob, you will never be forgotten.
