Robert L. Blake, 69, of Avoca, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born in Washington D.C., on July 3, 1956, he was the son of the late Jordan and Theresa (Soy) Blake.

Robert was a proud graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1975. He was employed by Schott Optical in Duryea, where he worked as a machinist for 38 years before retiring. Dedicated to serving his community, Robert was a lifelong member of the Hughestown Fire Department, where he was a registered EMT and served as past president.


A talented craftsman and devoted friend, Robert was a social member of the Dupont VFW post 4909.


Known for his mechanical skills and generous spirit, he could fix just about anything he got his hands on and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed watching old Western movies. Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Elmes and her husband Michael, of Avoca; his son Robert Blake, of Pahrump, Nevada; and grandchildren Aubrey and Ethan Elmes. Also surviving are his brothers, Jerry, of Duryea; Jimmy and his wife Patricia, of Duryea; Patrick and his wife Candace, of Kingston; and his significant other, Patty Coyle with whom he resided. He is also survived his step kids and grandchildren from the Zielinski family and many nieces and nephews.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at 4:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. William Broadbeck officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday, November 1st from 2pm until the time of service.
