Rose M. Sowa Sledgeski, 96, of Avoca passed away on February 12, 2023, at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. Born in Avoca on December 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Sowa.
Rose attended Avoca Schools. Before her retirement, she was employed at Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea for several years. She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Church, Avoca.
Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sledgeski, Sr.; her son William Jr., six brothers: George, Joseph, William, Frank, Walter, and Casimer; and five sisters: Josephine, Sister Mary Alice, Sophia, Helen and Mary.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph and wife Marjorie, Moosic and John and wife Michelle, Duryea; daughter-in-law Shirley Sledgeski; five grandchildren: Micheal, Lori, Christine, John Jr. and Gunnar; three great-grandchildren: Hannah, Matthew, and Alex; and several nieces and nephews.
As per Rose’s request, a private funeral with a blessing at the time of burial will take place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moosic.
