Sandra Patterson Rosser

Sandra Patterson Rosser, 77, of Avoca, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 25, 2023, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. Born in Avoca, August 1, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mildred Wilson Patterson.

Sandra was a lifelong and active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca. A graduate of Northeast High School, Duryea, Class of 1963, where she was a proud cheerleader. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs locally and retired from Taylor Nursing Facility, Taylor in the dietary department.


Warm-hearted, kind, and loving; these are just a few words that describe Sandy’s best qualities. She enjoyed people, especially those she served through her volunteerism at the Avoca Food Bank, the Avoca VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and within her church. She adored her close friends and valued time spent with them throughout the years. Family and close friends will be forever touched by Sandy’s love and the generosity of her spirit.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Rosser, who died July 16, 2014, as well as her siblings Mary Moses, Ruth Citarella, Harry, John, Joseph, Kenneth, Paul, and Arnold.


She is survived by her children Ronald and his fiancé Rose Webb, of Avoca, George of Avoca, and Amy Sickler and her husband Bill, of Gouldboro. Also surviving are her grandchildren Michael Sharkness and Ronald Rosser, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Sharon Dietz of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Monday evening, January 30, 2023 from 5-8pm.
