Sheila E. McLaughlin

Sheila E. McLaughlin, 69, of Avoca passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Avoca on November 1, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary (O’Neill) McLaughlin.

She was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. A 1968 graduate of St. John The Evangelist High School, Pittston and a graduate of Wilkes University where she received her bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. Sheila retired from the Pittston Area School District after many years of employment as a middle school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Patrick McLaughlin.

Sheila is survived by her brother Kevin, of Webster, NY and sisters Helene McLaughlin, with whom she resided, and Molly Memmi and her husband John, of Hershey. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews;

Neil McLaughlin and his wife Becca, Meghan McLaughlin, and Sean and Ian Memmi.

Funeral services will be privately held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, Pa. 18641

Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

My dearest Sheila, I was so sad to read of your passing. Way too young my friend! Elaine and I toasted your soul at Ruth Chris, the first time back at the casino. Wish you had been with us... I let Linda and Teddy know as well. We were shocked that you were gone, hadn't seen you since a viewing a few years already. We hope you didn't suffer! Michael and I are so sorry to hear of Sheila's passing she was a wonderful person and fun loving person.I will always remember the time s we had at The Lincoln school and the parties and happy hours we all enjoyed. She will be sadly missed.
