Theodore “Teddy” Kerechuk, 66, of Avoca, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Regional Hospital, Scranton. He was born October 30, 1954 and in Brown’s Patch, Avoca and was the son of Ethel (Gregorski) Kerechuk and the late Theodore “Feathers” Kerechuk, Sr.
Teddy attended Pittston Area High School. He was a member of Queen Of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. Teddy was the caretaker of his mother and aunt Cecelia. He was currently employed by Schott Optical where he had worked for 43 years.
Teddy enjoyed going for rides and purchasing items from his favorite stores, Home Depot and Lowes. He enjoyed planting tomatoes and decorating for every holiday and loved to entertain at his home for family and friends and made sure everyone enjoyed the family parties. Teddy was also a member of the Wonderless Club.
In addition to his father, Teddy is preceded in death by his Sister Barbara Ellis and his nephews Donny Buganesi and Edward Ellis, Jr.
In addition to his mother, Teddy is survived by his sisters, Phyllis Buganesi, of Scranton and Denise Kasa, of Avoca and his nieces, Lovena Renda and Carissa Kasa, He has many cousins and friends and had much love for his two parakeets, Whitey and Polly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Teddy’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton for taking the best care of him.
Funeral services will be privately held. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca and private interment services will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

Teddy was a caring, fun loving, protecting watchman over our Brown’s patch here in Avoca. My family had the privilege of living right next door to him for the past 11 years. We were so lucky to get know him and his family. He cared for them so much, but even to us Teddy would say to me “you are not my neighbor… your family”. He was always there to lend a hand, a caring word, a great story from the past, the latest news in town, and especially a drink on the porch. His door was always open to anyone and so was his heart. You don’t see people like that anymore. He was truly one of a kind.…
